Colonial Addition/Remodel, Rye, NY by DeMotte Architects

Project location: Rye, N.Y.
Project type: Addition/Alteration
Completion date: 2012
Architect: Brad DeMotte, R.A.

The existing house was a dated builder’s spec house built in the ’50′s, in dire need of updating. The 2 car garage was previously entered from the side, which we redesigned with the new doors now facing the street. The wood carriage style garage doors are finished with stain, & a small pergola in front of the doors adds additional curb appeal.

A 2 story addition was built to the left of the garage, which enlarged the dining room & the bedroom above. The front door & sidelights were replaced, and a new canopy was built at the front entry. All windows were replaced, the roof overhangs were extended & the roof shingles were replaced. Wooden shutters with operable hardware replaced the plastic shutters.
