Cape to Colonial Conversion by DeMotte Architects
The existing house was a cape on a corner lot. A growing family in need of more living space prompted this project, which was to remove the roof & build a second story addition.
The 1 car garage was removed and replaced with a 2 car garage, shifted forward on the site which allowed for a side entry & mud room behind the garage.
The footprint of the house was also squared off, which allowed for a simple 2 story gabled structure for the main body of the house. As is typical with projects like this, the cape was transformed into a Colonial.
A flat-roofed, front covered porch was also designed, providing a great place to people watch.
