Connecticut Modern Farmhouse by DeMotte Architects
A custom house designed for a couple who lived in a house on the same property. The house had suffered damage from a hurricane and had been repaired numerous times. Being in a flood zone, the owners decided to tear down the house & build a new one in it’s place.
Their desire was to build a modern farmhouse that was clean, classic & timeless both inside & out. The 4 bedroom house is 4000 SF over 2 floors, with some additional living space in the attic.
The lot is very small being only 100’x100′, so there’s little side yard or back yard. A large bluestone terrace in front of the house is the primary outdoor living space which includes a fire pit. An adjacent covered porch has space heaters in the ceiling, extending its use.
Exterior materials consist of cedar clapboard siding, asphalt shingle roofing, standing seam copper roofing & PVC trim.
